WHO ARE WE ?

Arriving from Athens, Pireaus and Thessaloniki/Greece, the BEJA family is present in the shipping and forwarding trade and industry, particularly in the East Mediterranean, since 1935.

1945 : developping the liner agency activities, the family was appointed agents for one of the leading Danish Lines :
D.F.D.S. A/S,  (Det Forenede Dampskibs Selskab, A/S – Copenhagen)

linking the Baltic Sea and North European Continent to Eastern Mediterranean.

1948 : it was decided to establish own office in LEBANON : Agence Maritime J. N. Beja, to include transit and reforwarding to the arab hinterland, while the other brothers continued operating/covering all Eastern Mediterranean ports from Greece to Egypt included.
The group developped in the region, representing various regular lines, and added complementary services to it’s activities, such as Air & Sea consolidation , door to door services, etc… to/from Lebanon, and Greece.

1968: BALTIC LEVANT CO., Ltd. (B.L.C.), based in Pireaus was established, becoming immediately involved with the agency of tramp, and later liner vessels, linking the Eastern Mediterranean to Northern Europe and the US East Coast, Central America & the Carribean.

In the late 70s, the greek office diversified it’s activities and, in cooperation with a number of qualified surveyors in all major Greek ports, handled cargo surveys as agents of Messrs. BECKMANN & JORGENSEN INTERNATIONAL, Copenhagen (now located in Antwerp). These first surveys concerned mainly the Greek cement exports. B.L.C. is now working closely with a number of international surveying companies and is thus able to carry out a wider range of marine and cargo surveys worldwide.

End 1970's, early 1980 when civil war expanded, it was decided to suspend all activities in LEBANON until better days.

1993 : The Lebanese civil war ending, SHIPPING and TRADING Co., Ltd. (S.T.C.), was established, enabling the family to resume it’s presence in all aspects of the shipping and forwarding industry in the LEBANON.

To-day, S.T.C. keeps looking forward and is prepared for the future by expanding various services. Based on mutual understanding, benefit and cooperation, we are ready to satisfy all your shipping requirements
